This year we changed locations from the Burlington Boathouse to the new Burlington Harbor Marina as a “dry run”, to see and identify any shortfalls for the 2022 ACBS International Show scheduled for September 9th and 10th next year. The main dock which also serves as a wave attenuator is where the marina plans to host the boats for the show. Protecting the marina from northwest wind and waves, it is a long wide dock with fingers to the south side.
The day before the show, Steve Pond brought his 15’ Lyman, Aqua Baby over and tied her up broadside to the attenuator dock. Later that day winds picked up to about 20 mph from the northwest. The waves hitting the outside of the attenuator splashed across the dock, but Aqua Baby on the inside of the dock rode out the winds well, at the end of her lines. The wind was still high in the morning and the dock wet, yet you barely feel the attenuator dock moving. By 9:00AM the winds died and the water began to flatten.
We had a really good turnout, with about 32 boats displayed, and the public found their way to the new marina venue. Many had heard about the show from the Church Street Marketplace boat display two days earlier. After the show we walked over to the Burlington Community Sailing Center and had a buffet dinner on the 3rd floor deck. We could not have picked a pretty place to eat and gather. Holly Weber and George Kurjanowicz were snapping photos during the day. These photos shared below were shot by Holly.
